Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, discussed with Fatah Central Committee Secretary-General Jibril Rajoub developments in the Palestinian territories, particularly the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as efforts to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, Abdelatty reviewed efforts aimed at supporting the completion of the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Nader Zaki said.
He stressed the importance of fully meeting the commitments of the first phase, including ensuring the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and advancing early recovery efforts.
Abdelatty condemned repeated attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, as well as the escalation in such attacks.
He further condemned repeated incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque compound and provocative practices there, warning of the dangers posed by the continuation of these violations and attempts to undermine the existing historical and legal status quo at the holy sites in Jerusalem.
The meeting also addressed the importance of continuing Palestinian national dialogue in a way that contributes to unifying ranks.
The meeting tackled Egypt’s efforts to support reform and empower the Palestinian Authority and strengthen its capabilities to assume its responsibilities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in a manner that supports the unity of Palestinian decision-making and institutions and paves the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem (Al Quds city) as its capital.
