Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stressed the necessity of continuing to encourage Sudanese parties to stop bloodshed in the country, through reaching an immediate and rapid ceasefire.
Shoukry’s comments came during a phone call that he received on Thursday from Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra, as they discussed the latest developments in Sudan, said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.
During the phone conversation, Shoukry reviewed Egypt’s efforts and contacts with different parties to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Sudan.
On his part, the Dutch foreign minister commended Egypt’s endeavors to stop the fighting in Sudan, expressing his country’s concern about the impact of the ongoing armed clashes on Sudanese citizens and foreign nationals in the country.
