Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar briefed on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, ambassadors-designate on Egypt’s healthcare achievements, calling on them to communicate the country’s progress in the sector during their diplomatic missions abroad.
The meeting reviewed healthcare performance indicators and major national initiatives that could support Egypt’s international image.
During the talks, Abdel Ghaffar said that Egypt’s 15 presidential health initiatives have delivered more than 278.5 million services, including the internationally recognized 100 Million Healthy Lives campaign.
He also reviewed progress in the state-funded treatment program and efforts to eliminate surgical waiting lists, which have benefited 3.3 million citizens at a cost of LE37.6 billion.
The minister said that Egypt’s healthcare system includes 1,839 hospitals and more than 694,000 healthcare workers, while the Universal Health Insurance System now covers 69.5 million beneficiaries.
The meeting also discussed pharmaceutical registration, investment opportunities in the medical sector, medical tourism and expanding healthcare cooperation, particularly with African countries.
