Health Minister: Egypt’s reported COVID-19 cases represent one-tenth of actual cases

Egypt’s coronavirus case numbers are one-tenth of the country’s actual cases, and this is not just the case in Egypt, but in all countries, Health Minister Hala Zayed said.

Zayed confirmed, during a press conference on Monday, that the ministry is aware that many patients with the virus are undergoing home treatment and isolation.

In response to this, the ministry launched its “100 Million Healthy Lives” initiative, which seeks to monitor patients with the virus at home and measure their oxygen levels. Health officials will transfer anyone with low oxygen levels to hospitals.

Egypt’s Health Ministry on Monday confirmed 1,277 new coronavirus cases, down from 1,309 on Sunday.

The ministry also announced 58 deaths and 703 recovered cases.

Egypt has now reported a total of 143,464 infections and 114,601 and fully-recovered cases. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths is now 7,863 nationwide.
