Heatwaves return in full force on Saturday across Egypt, accompanied by heavy rains: EMA

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority revealed that harsh heat waves will return across all of Egypt on Saturday, with heavy rainfall until Sunday.

Very hot and humid weather will prevail across Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, South Sinai and south of the country, with hot and humid on the northern coasts during the daytime.

The weather will be hot and humid at night all over the country.

Meteorologists expect a rise in temperatures on Saturday in Greater Cairo and the Delta regions, reaching 40C.

The governorates of Minya, Beni Suef, Fayoum, and Assiut are expected to see temperatures as high as 42C and 43C in the Red Sea governorates, and up to 44C in the southern governorates.

Meteorologists announced that the southern parts of Egypt will be affected by the tropical belt until Sunday, which will cause thunderstorms with torrential rains on the Nile’s headwaters in Ethiopia and Sudan.

Rainfall of varying proportions are expected in Halayeb, Shalateen, the Red Sea mountain ranges, and some areas of Luxor and Aswan.

The current heat wave in Egypt is the main reason behind power outages, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said in a press statement in July, adding that August is expected to witness unprecedentedly high temperatures as well.
