IED explodes on Cairo-Sharqiya railway line

An IED exploded on the railway east of the Cairo/Zagazig line in front of the village of Anshas, Belbais, Sharqiya governorate on Saturday, leading to the suspension of trains on that line, said Mahmoud Ota, director of Sharqiya railway department.

Repairs would take two hours, he added.

Bomb squads headed to the area and discovered that the explosion caused broken rails 70 cm long. They combed the surrounding area to make sure no other explosives were in the area.

A security cordon was erected around the area, and a claim was filed on the incident.
