Interior Minister vows to hunt down bombing perpetrators, NASL condemns incident

Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim vowed the ministry will hunt down all terrorist elements disrupting the security and stability of the homeland, including the perpetrators of Daqahlia Security Directorate bombing.

On Tuesday, a massive explosion tore through a security compound in Egypt's Nile Delta area of Dakahlia, killing at least 12 people and wounded over 100.

The police are determined to eliminate terrorism and the incident will not break our will, Ibrahim added.

“They know very well that we direct painful blows to them, and just yesterday we arrested four dangerous terrorists in Daqahlia,” Ibrahim said during a visit Tuesday to the site of the incident and the injured soldiers at hospital.

Meanwhile, groups affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood quickly denounced the Daqahlia blast, calling the perpetrators of the incident agents and criminals who aim to sow discord and shed the blood of Egyptians. The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy and Reject the Coup strongly condemns the criminal incident which has targeted innocent sons of Egypt, the alliance said in a statement.

The statement also stressed that their protests were peaceful. We stress that peacefulness is the national alliance's sole choice to defend the legitimacy of the Egyptian people, the statement added. “The Egyptian revolution is peaceful.”

The alliance denounced the “pro-coup media” for preempting investigations by accusing the Muslim Brotherhood of committing the incident, saying more than pro-Muslim Brotherhood detainees were held inside the Daqahlia Security Directorate for over two months.

“The [alliance] appeals to the security forces to speed up with the arrest of perpetrators, and stresses the sanctity of the blood of all Egyptians,” the statement read.
