Jama’a al-Islamiya launches reconciliation initiative

The Turkish Anadolu news agency reported Friday that Jama'a al-Islamiya has launched a reconciliation initiative that includes conducting a referendum on the roadmap announced by Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sissi.

The statement mentioned that the armed forces have to "let the people decide in a referendum whether they accept the roadmap announced by Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sissi or want to reinstate the elected president."

"An initiative to preserve all the sons of the nation," the headline read.

"Whatever the result of the referendum, a comprehensive reconciliation should be conducted between all the sons of the nation and no punishment should be taken against any party."

"We hope all parties agree to this initiative. May it be a way to prevent bloodshed and end feuds that may be passed on to future generations, and may it open a way to a bright future for our dear Egypt."
