Jama’a al-Islamiya postpones rally

Jama'a al-Islamiya has decided to postpone a million-man protest that it had called for on Friday 8 February, by a week. It also changed the location of the protest so that it will be outside Cairo University, where Islamist forces have gathered for a number of rallies recently.

At a press conference held on Monday at the headquarters of Jama’a al-Islamiya’s political wing the Construction and Development Party, the group called on all political powers to work to achieve the goals of the revolution using peaceful means and to firmly resist thuggery and violence.

The group also called for establishing a department in the interior ministry to combat thuggery and for legislation criminzalizing acts of thuggery.
