Justice minister accused of rigging lawyers syndicate elections

A number of lawyers have filed a lawsuit against the justice minister and the head of the administrative prosecution, accusing them of rigging the lawyers syndicate elections in favor of Sameh Ashour, the newly-elected chairman.

They requested a recount of the votes.

“More than 150 lawyers filed the lawsuit in 40 pages,” said syndicate member Mokhtar Nouh. “Many ballots were filled with names of deceased lawyers or emigrants living abroad.”
