Meteorologists warn against declining temperatures

Egyptian Meteorological Authority urged citizens on Thursday to wear heavy clothes and stay away from maritime activities, especially near the Mediterranean starting Saturday, which will see significant decline in temperatures by 4 to 5 degrees celsius lower than the normal.

Meteorologists also called on other authorities to take precautionary measures in order to reduce the impact of results of the bad weather conditions.

Ahmed abdel Aal, chairman of the authority, said the decreasing temperature will be accompanied by low- and medium-level clouds nationwide, which will lead to heavy rains on northern coasts, especially central and north of Sinai at Rafah and Arish cities as well as Halayeb and Shalateen at the south and Delta governorates. Lighter rains will fall on Cairo on Sunday and Monday.

Wind will blow stronger, which will disturb maritime navigation at the Red Sea and Mediterranean.

Temperatures during the coming few day are expected to reach 19 to 20 degrees celsius on the northern coasts, 18 to 19 degrees at Cairo and Delta, 20 to 21 degrees at north of Upper Egypt and 23 to 24 degrees at South of Upper Egypt.
