Minister: Climate change creates economic crises, posing major challenge to any form of development

Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine al-Kabbaj said climate change impacts food security, not just in terms of quantity, but also food quality.

“Climate change does also create economic crises, posing a major to any form of development,” Kabbaj added during a ceremony organized by Misr Elkheir Foundation (MEK) to reveal winners’ names in the 5th edition of the ‘Misr El Kheir’ prize for philanthropic and sustainable development work.

Kabbaj also highlighted the challenges posed by terrorist attacks and conflicts where human rights laws and principles are violated, deploring the heartbreaking reality in Gaza as result of Israel’s brutal assaults.

She said despite regional as well as global challenges, Egypt is still full of goodness, thanks to its rich resources and the minds of its people.

Kabbaj thanked the foundation for its development role in support of the citizens most in need.

Hailing the growing role of civil society organizations in Egypt under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Kabbaj said the ministry had provided LE1.400 billion last year to promote their role in offering necessary services to those most in need.
