Minister: Promotional campaign after Sharm al-Sheikh conference to subscribe to dollar bonds

The Egyptian government is planning a promotional campaign to subscribe to US$1.5 billion bonds offered in the global market after the Sharm al-Sheikh conference in March, said Finance Minister Hani Qadri Demian at a meeting with British Minister of State for Middle East Affairs Tobias Ellwood.
 
“Egypt has promising investment opportunities in new and renewable energy,” Demian said, adding that Ellwood is an expert in coal and will visit Egypt again in February for that purpose.
 
The minister said that he presented during the meeting projects that the government has implemented to boost the economy, such as the Suez Canal development project, the Golden Triangle project in southern Egypt and the reclamation of one million acres project.
 
He also said that the government will offer at the Sharm al-Sheikh conference many other projects for investment in participation with the private sector in the fields of river transport and logistics, energy, tourism and infrastructure.
 
“British companies are investing in a variety of fields other than the oil and gas sector,” he said.
 
For his part, the British minister that his delegation, which includes 51 major British companies, is exploring opportunities in retail, mining and telecommunications.
