Mohamed Salah ranks third in Golden Shoe competition

Egyptian and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah climbed up to third place in Europe’s ‘Golden Shoe’ award given to Europe’s top scorers, after his goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday took his English Premier League goals tally to 24, equal with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

Salah has currently garnered 48 points in the Golden Shoe list, moving up from fourth last week, when he had 46 points.

Although Salah ranks third, he boasts an equal number of points with the top two in the list, Uruguay and PSG’s Edinson Cavani and Lionel Messi, as well as Kane, who fell to fourth place. Each has gained 48 points after scoring 24 goals in their respective domestic leagues this season.

Cavani ranks first because his 24 goals have come in just 25 matches. Messi, meanwhile, scored his goals in 27 matches, while Salah scored his in 28 matches.

Italy and Lazio striker Ciro Immobile slipped to fifth place with 46 points from his 23 goals after ranking third last week.

Meanwhile, Benfica’s Brazilian striker, Jonas Oliviera, ranks sixth with 45 points from 30 goals, while Argentina’s Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero ranks seventh with 42 points from 21 goals.

PSG star Neymar, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, and Barcelona’s Luis Suarez rank eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively.
