Morsy detention extended for another 15 days

The imprisonment of ousted President Mohamed Morsy has been extended for 15 days pending an investigation into charges of collaborating with Hamas to carry out violent attacks in Egypt and assault police establishments.

Morsy faces several charges including spying, attacking police establishments, breaking into prisons and sabotaging them, setting the Wadi al-Natroun prison on fire, enabling prisoners to escape, escaping from prison himself, destroying prison documents, storming police stations, sabotaging public buildings, and killing several prisoners and officers and abducting others.

Morsy has been detained in an undisclosed location since the military ousted him from power in early July.
