Naguib Sawiris denies media reports of stadium and events area at Pyramids plateau

Businessman Naguib Sawiris on Sunday denied media reports about the construction of a sports stadium and events area on the Giza Pyramids plateau.

Sawiris said via his official X platform account that these statements were not made by him or any of his company’s representatives, in response to reports circulating details of an alleged project to develop the area.

“This is completely false and did not come from me or any of the company’s representatives,” he said.

Sawiris’s comment came after press reports circulated attributing to him his intention to build a sports stadium and events area within the Giza Pyramids archaeological site, in addition to injecting new investments worth ten million dollars into the area’s development project.

New investments

Reports indicate that the new investments aim to transform Giza Pyramids area into a comprehensive year-round destination, hosting cultural and sporting events and international concerts.

The reports added that the new funding complements the Pyramids development project that began in 2018, noting that the company’s total investment in the project will increase, according to these reports, to approximately two billion Egyptian pounds, equivalent to about $41 million.
