NASL calls for million-man demos for a week as of Friday

The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy (NASL) has called for million-man demonstrations for a week as of Friday in solidarity with university students, under the title “Students Ignite Revolution.”

In a statement on Thursday, the alliance demanded the release of Muslim Brotherhood leaders and the return of President Mohamed Morsy.

Addressing students, the statement said “you took the revolution to a new course with your courage and steadfastness. You have renewed the history of student movements. You used to give martyrs every 10 years, now you give 10 martyrs everyday.”

The statement added that 261 martyrs have died, 610 students were arrested and another 2000 were injured.

Informed sources said the demonstrations would siege the Supreme Constitutional Court, storm Tahrir and Rabaa al-Adaweya squares, foment chaos inside universities, block the main roads of the capital, especially the 26 July axis and the ring road, and disrupt the subway lines.
