
BRUSSELS, Jan 16 (MENA) – NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighborhood Javier Colomina lauded Egypt’s role in achieving stability and building peace in the Middle East, saying the country is a key partner for regional stability.
He also commended what he described as Egypt’s “active and engaged diplomacy” in dealing with various issues and challenges facing the region, within a framework of balanced strategic prudence and respect for the sovereignty of states and their national interests, according to a statement released by the NATO General Secretariat on Friday.
Colomina concluded an official visit to Egypt from January 12 to 15, where he held extensive talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptians Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, on issues related to regional security and stability.
The NATO official reaffirmed the military alliance’s pride in its long-standing partnership with Egypt, noting that active efforts are underway to bolster this partnership.
Colomina visited the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), which serves as a training and education partner.
He also held talks with Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Hossam Zaki, as they exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East and the efforts needed for regional de-escalation. (MENA)
