NDP candidate accuses party minister of election rigging

Defeated National Democratic Party (NDP) parliamentarian Mohamed Abdeen has accused NDP Minister of Irrigation Nasreddin Allam of electoral fraud.

Abdeen, former representative of the Juhayna, Suhag district, lost to Allam in last Sunday's first round of parliamentary elections. Abdeen said he filed a report with the Attorney General to investigate the charges.

Abdeen told Al-Masry Al-Youm the minister's supporters manipulated ballots, forged voter signatures, and replaced voting boxes.

Abdeen urged the Attorney General to reveal the transgressions by comparing voter signatures with names found on voting lists.
