Nine people killed in minibus accident north of Cairo

Nine people were killed and ten others seriously injured when a minibus carrying farmers overturned and fell into the Nubariya Canal in the Nile Delta Governorate of Beheira.

Security sources said that the driver lost control of the steering wheel when the back tire exploded, and that two bodies have so far been recovered from the canal.

Road accidents are the second cause of death in Egypt every year. A government report issued last week said that 18 people per day were killed in road accidents in 2009 alone.
