Number of Egyptians obtaining immigration approval decreases by 9.1% in 2019

Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Wednesday that the number of Egyptians immigrants who applied for and gained immigrant status while still in Egypt in 2019 was 350, down from 385 in 2018, a decrease of 9.1 percent.

A CAPMAS report added that the number of Egyptian immigrants who acquired the status of immigrants while already abroad reached 301 male and 49 female immigrants, or 86 and 14 percent of the total.

The report pointed out that Italy represents the first destination in terms of the numbers of immigrants who obtained approval for immigration during 2019, representing 37.1 percent of the total.

The report said that the number of those obtaining university degrees reached 147 immigrants, or 43.2 percent of the total number of immigrants.

According to the report, immigrants in the age group of 40-44 years old are ranked first in terms of the number of Egyptians who have obtained immigration approval and who have acquired immigrant status abroad, with a total of 64 people, or 18.3 percent of the total.

The agency stated that the number of Egyptians who acquired foreign nationalities in 2019 amounted to 2,616 Egyptians, compared to 2,694 Egyptians in 2018, a decrease of 2.9 percent.
