Obama offers condolences to Mubarak for Alex church attack victims

US President Barack Obama on Tuesday sent a letter to Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak to offer condolences for the victims of the deadly New Year's Eve church bombing in Alexandria.

According to Egypt's official Middle East News Agency, in his letter Obama stressed "the United States' solidarity with Egypt in the face of blind terrorism that targets innocent people of different religions and races around the world."

The US president added: "We must prevent their attempts to terrorize innocent people and cause sedition."

Twenty-three Coptic Christians were killed in a suicide attack while leaving Alexandria's Church of St. Mark and St. Peter after attending mass on New Year's Eve.
