The oldest person in Egypt’s quarantine hospitals, 106-year-old Ibrahim al-Attar, has passed away from a blood clot caused by a coronavirus infection on Sunday at the Educational Damanhour Hospital, his grandson Mohammed al-Attar announced.

Attar had been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit after developing a blood clot, said quarantine physician Ayman al-Tayaar, who added that he had to be placed on a ventilator and lost consciousness on Saturday.

Born in August 1914, Attar had eight children and a family of 120 members composed of his children and direct descendants, all living at Damanhour’s Safasef.
