One man killed, six wounded in clashes with Assiut security

One person was killed and six others were wounded, including three members of security forces, during a shootout in Assiut. Security forces were attempting to retain land and property owned by the state in the Dairout area.

Governorate officials in cooperation with the military and interior ministry have devised a plan to demolish encroachment on state land, used illegal for cultivation or construction in Dairout area.

During executing the plan on 30 Feddans in the villages of Awaga, and Nagaa Khedr, the forces came under fire from residents. The forces exchanged fire with them.

The area in which the shooting took place was cordoned after orders from Assiut Governor Mohamed Ibrahim.
