PM renames streets after martyrs who lived in them

Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq instructed governors on Monday to give the names of those who died during the uprising that began on 25 January to the streets in which they used to live.

According to Health Ministry estimates, the number of persons killed during the revolution reached 365, not including policemen or prisoners.

Caretaker Finance Minister Samir Radwan said last week the government would allocate LE1500 as an exceptional monthly pension to the families those killed in the uprising.

The Health Ministry, according to Radwan, is currently working with the Interior Ministry on preparing a list of martyrs in order to contact their families and disburse the pensions.
