PM stresses importance of universal health insurance system as key national project

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the significant importance of the universal health insurance system as one of the state’s major national projects aimed at upgrading healthcare services and achieving a real qualitative leap in the healthcare sector across all governorates.

Madbouly’s remarks came during a meeting on Sunday, May 24, 2026, to follow up on amendments to the Universal Health Insurance Law and review plans for expanding the system as well as securing financing for the second phase, after the completion of the first phase in six governorates.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of  Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, the Minister of Supply Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Investment Mohamed Farid, the  Minister of Industry Kamel al-Wazir, along with senior officials from the relevant ministries and authorities.

Madbouly said the meeting comes within the framework of following up on proposed amendments to the Universal Health Insurance Law in a way that ensures the sustainability of the system’s financial resources and the continuity of this important national project.
