Police storm Al-Azhar University dorms to disperse demo

Security forces stationed outside the Al-Azhar University stormed the dormitories on Friday to disperse a demonstration by students.

Following Friday prayer, students began to shoot off fireworks, prompting the police to respond with tear gas. Security then entered the mens dormitories when the students threw stones at them.

Universities have become one of the main battlegrounds for protests against the military-led transitional government following the ouster of Egypt's first democratically-elected president, Mohamed Morsy, who hailed from the Muslim Brotherhood.
