Pope Tawadros II holds Palm Sunday Mass

Pope Tawadros II held the Palm Sunday Mass at the Bishop Bishoy Monastery in Wadi Natrun in the presence of members of the Holy Synod.

Meanwhile, Coptic Christians celebrated Palm Sunday amid tight security measures at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbaseya.

In his sermon, the Pope said Palm Sunday is a joyful day, linked to the Resurrection that will be celebrated next week. “It is a new day of bond between you and God,” he said.

Celebrating Palm Sunday, one of the holiest days of the year for Coptic Christians, the Church chooses readings from the Gospels and the Old Testament that describe the relationship between God and humankind, to be read during masses.
