President al-Sisi heads for Jordan to participate in 2nd Baghdad Conf. for Cooperation & Partnership

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi left for Jordan on Tuesday to participate in the second session of Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership.

In statements on Tuesday, Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said President Sisi’s participation in the conference comes within the framework of Egypt’s support of Iraq’s return to its active role at the regional level and is out of Egypt’s keenness on ensuring its security and stability.

The conference seeks to build on the results of the first session of the Baghdad Conference, which was held in August 2021, he further noted.

It will discuss means of promoting dialogue with the view to solving the problems in the region, along with creating a conducive climate for establishing partnership, cooperation and economic integration between Iraq and its neighboring countries, the spokesman said.

During his visit, the president will hold a series of meetings with the Jordanian monarch and leaders participating in the conference, for consultations on means of boosting bilateral ties on all levels, he added.

Sisi will also participate in a tripartite summit with Jordanian King Abdullah II and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, the spokesman noted.
