Presidential advisers hold meeting with Nubian leaders

A number of President Mohamed Morsy and the Prime Minister Hesham Qandil's advisers met with Nubian leaders on Sunday to discuss problems the community faces, former head of the Nubian Club Mosaad Herky said.

Herky said he received an invitation along with other Nubian leaders to meet with the president's advisers.

Presidential advisers Emad Abdel Ghafour, Pakinam al-Sharqawy, and Saif Abdel Fattah and prime minister advisers Sayed Falaifel and Mohamed Naeem attended the meeting, Herky said.

Herky added that in addition to himself a number of other Nubian leaders participated in the meeting, including Hassan Saif Eddin, Reda Yacoub, Badawy Abdel Basset, Hussein Fathy Hussein and Ahmed Mekkawy.

Herky said he called for holding workshops to discuss proposed methods to compensate the Nubians and to study the allocation of space to build six areas for Nubians on the shore of Lake Nasser.

Yacoub called for turning Aswan University into a university for all Nile Basin countries and to allow the freer trade of Nasser Lake fish.

Herky said the Nubian leaders provided the advisers with reports on the condition of Nubian villages and issues facing the Nubians.
