Pro-MB students destroy security offices at Cairo University

Hundreds of Cairo University students supporting deposed President Mohamed Morsy and the Muslim Brotherhood destroyed lampposts and security offices inside the faculties of law and arts, setting them on fire as universities students continue the wave of protests that started with the beginning of the academic year in September.

The students had earlier engaged in hand fights with university security outside Dar al-Elom faculty when the officers stopped them from taking drums in for the protests.

A number of security employees were wounded in the violence. Some female demonstrators lost consciousness.

Students supporting toppled President Mohamed Morsy have been organizing protests since last September in universities, during which clashes with the security forces took place, leading to the death of many students.

In November, Mohamed Reda, an engineering student, was killed on campus. Government officials claimed he was killed by fellow Brotherhood demonstrators as an autopsy revealed the bullets in his body did not match those used by security forces.
