Quarrels between pharmacists, doctors over medical stamp

Quarrels occurred Thursday between members of the Pharmacists Syndicate board and several doctors during the general assembly of the Medical Profession Union, held Thursday in Dar al-Hekma to discuss the secretary-general's report, the budget and regulations on pensioners.

Board members threatened to secede from the union because of the medical stamp. They called for obliging doctors to put the medical stamp on prescriptions as pharmacists did. The pharmacists welcomed the threat with warm applause.

Board members then walked out of the assembly, objecting to what they described as “inappropriate treatment” by physicians.
