Report: 12,985 Egyptians migrated since 1993

The Manpower and Immigration Ministry announced on Sunday that the number of Egyptian migrants dating back from 1993 to the first quarter of this year amounted to approximately 12,985 Egyptians.
 
The years 1996 and 1997 witnessed the largest migration rate in the past 23 years. The report said 1,165 Egyptians migrated in 1996 and 963 in 1997.
 
About 446 Egyptians migrated in 2011 and 534 in 2012. One hundred Egyptians migrated in the first quarter of 2015.
 
The report mentioned that 5,022 migrated to the US, 4,099 to Canada, 2,137 to Italy, 1,068 to Australia, 243 to New Zealand and 416 to other countries. 
 
The number of male migrants totaled 10,268, while there were 2,713 females. The gender of four migrants could not be identified.
 
The migrants were classified according to their field of study. The Interior Ministry official data stated that 1,935 migrants were graduates from the faculty of commerce, 1,540 from engineering, 730 from medicine, 526 from science, 498 from parmacy, 464 from agriculture, 208 from law and 517 from the arts. The remaining 4,667 studied in other fields.
 
The report mentioned that 719 migrants did not hold an education degree and the fields of study of 516 could not be identified.
