Salafi Dawa cancels lessons, suspends campaign ahead of 28 November protests

The Salafi Dawa and its Nour Party announced a contingency plan during planned protests on next Friday 28 November. The Salafi Dawa issued instructions to stop all its conferences and religious lessons for fear of attacks.

Field conferences and campaigns by the Nour Party and Salafi Dawa against extremism and violence have been suspended, said deputy head of the Salafi Dawa Yasser Borhamy.

The decision aims to avoid participants in the demonstrations of 28 November, especially that there is incitement against the party because of its opposition to the demonstrations, terrorism and violence, said Borhamy in a press release.

The anti-extremism campaign adopted by the party under "Our Egypt without violence," will continue in all governorates, Borhamy stressed.

The Salafi Dawa is practicing its religious and national role against the ideological deviation of some groups, he added.

Borhamy accused those calling for demonstrations as being the puppets of the West to tarnish the image of Islam and alienate people from it.

The demonstrations of November 28 aim to demolish the state using a guerrilla war style, Borhamy said.
