Security, Brotherhood exchange fire in Helwan

Brotherhood supporters held a march after the Friday prayers in Helwan titled “Friday of Salvation.” They flashed the Rabaa sign and chanted slogans against Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the army.

When Central Security forces fired tear gas canisters to disperse the march, the protesters allegedly responded by firing live bullets at authorities.

Passersby fled the scene and shopkeepers closed their shops and left.

Police stepped up security around the Helwan police station in anticipation of more protests called for by the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy.
