Security officer foils prison break plot after escape attempt wakes him up

A security officer on Wednesday prevented four prisoners from escaping from the police station in Desouq, located north of Cairo in Kafr al-Sheikh Governorate.

The night-duty officer woke up when he heard a sound coming from one of the cells. The officer then found one of the prisoners using a saw to cut the iron window in order to escape.

The prisoner had ruined the water taps and tubes at the police station so that noise from the water would cover up the sound of the saw.

He was found with a saw and a piece of hash, which he obtained from one of his visitors, who hid the items inside a bottle.
