Security official warns transit personnel to be vigilant

Sayyed Gad al-Haq, Assistant Foreign Minister for Transport Police, has ordered personnel tasked with securing means of transportation to be extra vigilant when looking out for suspicious passengers, during a tour at Cairo’s railway station and the adjacent Ramses Metro Station.

He ordered security services to “widen the spotlight of political and criminal suspicion,” as he put it.

Railways and metro lines have witnessed several bombings and attempted bombings since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.

Authorities blame Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood of masterminding the bombings.
