Security source: Rafah massacre defendants attempted to escape

A source told Al-Masry Al-Youm that security forces foiled an escape attempt by defendants in the second Rafah massacre case.

The incident took place on Saturday while the defendants were being returned to Tora prison.

"They started rioting in the prison transport van, but security forces gained control over them and they were returned to prison," the security source added.

Cairo Criminal Court resumed on Saturday the trial of 35 defendants, including Adel Habara, the main defendant in the second Rafah massacre where 25 CSF soldiers were killed on Arish-Rafah road.

In addition to murder, the defendants are accused of attempted murder of other CSF soldiers in Belbais and collaborating with Al-Qaeda in Iraq.
