Six officers were killed and one conscript injured on Monday in an armed attack that targeted a military patrol in Salihiya, Sharqiya.
Joint police and army troops imposed a cordon and combed the area to try and apprehend the attackers. The victims were meanwhile transferred to al-Qassassin military hospital.
Relatives of the victims gathered before Qassassin hospital waiting for the victims’ bodies.
Medical and security sources said an armed forces vehicle was passing on road 36, heading to Salihiya, when the gunmen stopped them and fired shots at them.
In related news, a car bomb also exploded outside the South Sinai security department building, leaving one dead and 22 others injured, a security source said on Monday.
