Shoukry speaks in radio interview in India about int’l climate action

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, President-Designate of the latest UN Climate Change Conference COP27, spoke in a radio interview on Friday about the international climate action.

The interview was held on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue in India, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Shoukry talked about the Egyptian vision for international climate action, highlighting the great challenges it faces in connection with the global energy crisis and geopolitical tensions.

In this context, the Egyptian presidency of COP27 set a range of goals to be achieved during the conference, most notably preserving climate action as part of priority issues on the international arena, and bearing in mind climate justice that takes into account the developing countries’ conditions and concerns, the foreign minister added.

These goals were reflected in the outcomes of the conference and the Sharm el-Sheikh Implementation Plan that has been approved during the event, he noted.
