CAIRO, April 27 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi praised the growing momentum in bilateral relations with Russia, particularly in trade exchange and joint projects, foremost the Dabaa nuclear power plant and the planned Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, among other ventures reflecting the depth of ties between the two countries.
The president made the remarks during a meeting on Monday with visiting Russian presidential aide and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board Nikolai Patrushev, in the presence of Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Presidential Adviser for National Security Fayza Abul-Naga.
Sisi welcomed Patrushev and the accompanying high-level delegation, voicing Egypt’s pride in its strategic relations with Russia and his appreciation for Russian President Vladimir Putin, presidential spokesman Mohamed El Shenawy said.
Patrushev conveyed Putin’s greetings to Sisi, stressing that the visit reflects Russia’s keenness to advance joint cooperation and implement the strategic partnership agreements reached between the two countries’ leaderships, whether during Sisi’s visit to Russia in May 2025 or through recent contacts, including a phone call between the two leaders on March 31.
The meeting reviewed ongoing joint projects and potential areas of cooperation, including maritime navigation, as well as the outcomes of talks held by the Russian delegation with relevant Egyptian authorities.
For his part, the Russian official expressed Moscow’s appreciation for Sisi’s efforts and Egypt’s regional role, affirming Russia’s support and its commitment to continued close coordination at all levels. (MENA)
