Spanish official: Spain aims to invest in Egypt

The director of the Trade and Investment Authority at the Spanish Ministry of Economy Antonio Fernandez and his accompanying delegation in Cairo announced his country's desire to invest in Egypt.
 
Fernandez said after a meeting with Salman Ashraf, Egypt's Minister of Investment, yesterday, that his country is targeting investment in Egypt in renewable energy, transportation, infrastructure, water desalination, construction and real estate, tourism and textile sectors.
 
The economic summit to be held in mid-March will be a good message to introduce Egypt to the international business community, he said, pointing he discussed with Salman in search of increasing Spanish investments in Egypt, as well as discuss ways to boost cooperation.
 
Salman revealed government measures to promote investment opportunities through the reform of the legislative framework regulating the business environment, in addition to the promotional rounds for investment at home and abroad by the government.
 
The government is interested in attending conferences, seminars and meetings with investors, pointing out that the conference to be held aims at promoting investment opportunities.
 
The ministry seeks to torpedo the challenges facing investors and build an economic system to provide investment opportunities in a professional manner reflecting the government's plan for the development, said Salman.
 
Hassan Fahmy, head of the Investment Authority said a delegation of 40 Italian companies will visit Cairo in the period between 22 and 25 February to identify investment opportunities. 
 
The bill on investment law will be up for communal dialogue and parties concerned before being approved, Fahmy pointed out.
