Tantawi’s presidential campaign blasts opponents

Campaigners nominating Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi for president have criticized certain politicians and media personalities that oppose the campaign, calling them hypocrites.

“They accuse us of treason in order to attain their ulterior motives,” said campaign coordinator Mahmoud Atteya.

Atteya has reassured that the campaign is self-financed. “We don’t take funds from outside,” he said.

“We want a president who can restore the country’s prestige,” he said.

For his part, his colleague Tamr al-Nahas has called on the opponents of the campaign to stop what he called ideological intimidation against campaign members.
