Thousands join pro-democracy protesters

Thousands of protesters have been flocking to Cairo’s Tahrir Square to join pro-democracy protesters who are continuing their calls for President Hosni Mubarak's resignation.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Mubarak supporters have gathered at the nearby Abdel Moneim Riyad Square. Military forces managed to keep the groups apart after bloody clashes between both sides on Wednesday.

Protesters run checkpoints and have tightened security leading into the square after plainclothes police were reportedly  intimidating potential demonstrators to disuade them from joining other anti-Mubarak protesters.

On Thursday celebrities joined the anti-Mubarak demonstrations including actors Amr Waked and Geehan Fadel, directors Yousry Rizkallah, Zaki Fateen Abdel Wahab, Magdy Ahmed Ali, and Ahmed Abdalla, as well as film editor Dina Farouk.
