Rain in Cairo and governorates leads to traffic congestion on highways

Heavy rains fell on Monday morning in Cairo, Alexandria and the Sinai Peninsula, and snow also fell in some areas.

The rain led to traffic congestion on the highways that link the governorates to each other and those inside the capital, such as 26th of July corridor, Salah Salem Road, the Nile Corniche, and the 6th of October and 15th of May bridges, due to the accumulation of water.

Egyptian Meteorological Authority media adviser Ali Kotb said weather was rainy and cloudy in Cairo, northern governorates and Sinai. However, temperatures remain high.

Hot weather will be felt by noon in Cairo, the Delta and northern areas of Upper Egypt, he added. He expected weather conditions to improve in the afternoon.
