Transportation minister orders removal of derailed train from track

Transportation Minister Galal al-Saeed has instructed for a train derailed on Friday to be removed from the track to allow traffic to resume its usual flow.
 
A freight train carrying steel derailed on Friday on al-Wahat line. No casualties were reported.
 
Head of Egyptian National Railways Medhat Shousha, along with other officials, have been given directions to remove the cars of the train from the line so that services can run again.
 
"The authorities and technicians have so far taken two railcars off the track using cranes. The rest are in the process of being removed," he added.
 
In a statement on Friday, the ministry said the train was made up of 60 railcars. It was on its way from the mines to Tebbin district in Helwan. The freight train reached the 34 km mark on al-Wahat line when two railcars initally came off the track, followed by a series of railcars. Nine railcars were derailed in total, without casualties.
