Iran notified US of Qatar missile attack time, Trump claims

A day after brokering and announcing a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, US President Donald Trump commended Tehran for providing “very good” advance notice before launching a missile attack on the American Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. This attack was in response to earlier US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.

Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump stated: “They were very kind, they warned us.”

Reuters quoted Trump as saying: “Of the 14 high-precision missiles launched at the base in Qatar, our equipment shot them all down.”

Trump recounted that Iran informed the US of the attack’s timing. He stated: “The Iranians were very kind and warned us and asked if 1:00 was a convenient time?!”

The US President added: “Everyone was evacuated from the base to avoid harm, with the exception of the artillerymen.”

Trump indicated that US and Iranian officials would speak next week to continue the dialogue that had been interrupted by the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, adding that “the war is over.”
