Trump envoys thank Sisi, credit Egypt’s Intelligence for ‘pivotal’ Gaza deal

The delegation representing US President Donald Trump—including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner—which participated in the Gaza ceasefire agreement in Sharm El Sheikh, expressed profound gratitude for Egypt’s pivotal role in the efforts to halt the conflict in the Strip.

Upon being received at Ittihadiya Palace, Witkoff, the US President’s Envoy for the Middle East, thanked President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, stating: “Thank you first, and we are blessed to be here with you.”

Witkoff added: “This is one of those truly important moments in life when we can all come together and do something good for the world, hoping to achieve stability, save many lives, and reach a lasting peace.”

The Special Envoy particularly lauded the role of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service in achieving the agreement, saying: “We are working with a tremendous, amazing team. We could not have accomplished so much without your will and the skill of your team. Without you, we would not have completed the agreement, and I thank you.”

He also noted that President Trump is “very excited” to come to Egypt next week and meet President El-Sisi, calling it a great pleasure.

Jared Kushner, Senior Advisor to President Trump, also thanked President Sisi and the Egyptian team for finalizing the agreement. Kushner stated that the deal “was very important to President Trump.”

Kushner concluded: “This has been a very dark chapter in the region; we have witnessed much suffering. I hope that what we have achieved over the past few months will serve not only to end the war but to work towards rapprochement between the nations of the region, because the people of the region deserve to live in peace.”
