Two Copts were kidnapped in Minya on Saturday by unknown assailants who demanded a ransom, sources from security services and a church said.

A wedding photographer called Ayman Shehata Mansour, 40, was kidnapped on his way to a wedding party in Deir Mowas. A car with four assailants stopped the three-wheeled tuk tuk Mansour was taking to the wedding. They threatened him with weapons, forced him off the vehicle and abducted him. The kidnappers contacted the studio where Mansour works and demanded a LE60,000 ransom. A police report was then filed.

Another farmer called Malak Sobhy Youssef, 31, was abducted from Maasaret Malawy area in Minya on his way home. Four masked gunmen in a car grabbed him and forced him into the car. His yells caused the villagers to gather. The gunmen then fired shots in the air to intimidate and prevent anyone from rescuing him. They called later asking for a LE100,000 ransom. A separate police report was filed.
