UAE condemns murder of Egyptians in Libya

Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan condemned on Monday the murder of 21 Egyptian Copts in Libya, describing the crime as ‘ugly’ and offering condolences over the deaths of the victims.

"The United Arab Emirates is devoting all its resources to support the efforts of Egypt to eradicate terrorism and the violence directed against its citizens, and reaffirms its total support for Egypt," the minister said in a statement published by Emirati News Agency WAM.

Nahyan stressed the necessity for support from Arab and international countries to the Libyan people and government.

"The stability of Libya and its freeing from terrorism and extremism is an absolute necessity for the Arab and international community, which is also essential for the strengthening of the security of the neighboring countries.”

Nahyan denied the relationship between the ‘barbaric crimes’ conducted by the terrorists, and religion, saying,  "These crimes come from sick minds that seek to spread chaos throughout the world, through the killing of innocent people for no reason."

The foreign minister also urged punishment for the criminals.
